Taurus New Moon: Answering the Call of Your Hero’s Journey

Normally, Taurus season is a period of values-based, results-oriented, reflection and re-calibration. The earthy, enduring, steadfastness of Taurus helps move people and processes forward at a moderate, manageable pace. Taurus is the astrological poster child for the concept of telesis: progress, intelligently planned. And normally, as each sign is a response to the one that came before it, these exalted Taurean traits are exactly what is needed after the feisty, fiery volatility of Aries season. Normally.

This year, Taurus season is not the respite we have come to expect. There are a number of other planetary factors at work that point to an ongoing period of rapid and dramatic change. The biggest of these is the positioning and progression of the powerful outer planets – Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. Together they are known as the transpersonal planets, the planets of transformation and change. And right now, they are flipping the script. The involvement of any one of them would have an impact, but all five of them changing signs AND moving in and out of retrograde creates radical paradigm shifts. Use them.

Mars, the Lord of War, is also in play. Yes, he has been a factor in some way or another for the last 6 months. Now he is part of a conjunction in the latter degrees of Aries.  With Chiron. The asteroid which reveals our Achilles heel: the place in our soul where we are infinitely wise and yet the least likely to trust our own wisdom. Seriously. This combination of the ruling planet of Aries, in its own sign, and the asteroid that represents our deepest insecurities is giving Aries season a bit of an extended run. As above, so below.

Down here on the material plane, your personal version of the Hero’s Journey awaits. You have heard the call – your universe is handing you an invitation to take the next steps. Heed it. Cue up your favorite version of You Gotta Move, and get moving. Focus especially on the Taurus-ruled parts of your life: love, money, and the values that shape your choices around them. This is, after all, the Year of the Fire Horse. All that healing you did last year, the Year of the Wood Snake, has made this moment and all its opportunities possible. Take them.

The 2026 Taurus New Moon officially hits tomorrow: Saturday, May 16th, at 1:01 pm. Though traditional wisdom says to send these sorts of things out after the New Moon, I am sending this one beforehand. This gives you more time to digest it, to set your intentions, and to really work with the material. As you can see, everything but Pluto is above the horizon line, which means this one is coming at you from a different angle. This one is more public, interpersonal, and externally driven, rather than the private, more inward experiences you may be used to. There are undoubtable, undeniable ways in which you will be called upon to demonstrate relational leadership in the different families and communities to which you belong. Do it.

This Taurus New Moon is inviting you to stay on the path of your own Hero’s Journey, and to take the next steps on it, no matter how daunting. Heed the call. In order to create the life you want in the world you want, you will need to combine the strength and courage of Mars and Aries with the consistency of Taurus. Especially in the parts of your life that you are the most concerned about. Ask your Gods, guides, guardians, angels, archangels, and ancestors to help you take the bold and decisive action you need in order to achieve the goals, intentions, and resolutions you set at the new year. And if you get stuck, call me.

We'll figure it out.
